OpenAI is bringing voice commands for agentic Work tasks to the ChatGPT mobile app, according to TechCrunch. Plus and Pro subscribers will be able to use the Work tab on a phone to create a document, draft an email, or summarize Slack messages. TechCrunch also lists site building, presentations, and cloud browser use among the tasks available to those subscribers.
The change brings work previously available through voice in the desktop app to a phone. TechCrunch says users can start a conversation while away from their desk and resume it on desktop. ChatGPT voice conversations will also show richer text output, and users will be able to switch between speaking and typing.
What the report establishes about access
TechCrunch distinguishes the paid and lower-priced tiers. Plus and Pro users get the mobile Work tasks described above. Free and Go users can work with plugins and connected apps, though the report does not say they receive the same Work tab task set.
The report names drafting an email, rather than sending one. It does not explain how the mobile flow asks for confirmation before actions in another app, or which permissions a connected service needs for a given task. Those details matter most when a voice request reaches email, Slack, finances, or a browser session.
