Reddit will end RSS feeds on November 13, 2026, and close its remaining public API access in March 2027. The company cites large-scale scraping and automated abuse. Readers who follow Reddit through feeds will lose that option before developers reach the final API deadline.
Reddit access deadlines
Reddit’s moderator announcement recommends the Discord Relay Devvit app for common moderation alerts. It says RSS users following communities they do not moderate have no replacement.
The developer announcement sets out the API transition:
| Date | What changes |
|---|---|
| October 31, 2026 | Reddit stops accepting new public API access requests. |
| November 13, 2026 | RSS feeds end. |
| November 30, 2026 | Registration closes for migration funding. |
| January 12, 2027 | Reddit starts removing API access for apps and users that have not registered or responded to its outreach. |
| March 2027 | Remaining public API access ends. |
Reddit wants apps and bots to move to its Developer Platform. It says more than 14,000 have registered, while some capability gaps still need work. Developers can report blockers through registration and should test whether a migrated app still meets its community’s needs.
TechCrunch reports that AI assistants using Reddit data will need commercial deals after public API access closes.
Old Reddit also gets tighter access rules
Reddit plans to restrict Old Reddit in the coming months to logged-in users who have used it within the past six months. Logged-in moderators keep access without that recent-use requirement. Reddit attributes the restriction to scraping and automated traffic.
