Meta has announced two tools for creating Horizon games with AI prompts. Horizon Create is a mobile app, while Horizon Studio is a browser app with more detailed controls. Both are heading to early access through a waitlist. Meta says creators will be able to make 2D or 3D mobile games with progression, difficulty settings, art, and multiplayer features, then edit the results.
The distribution plan is the bigger change. Meta says published games can appear as recommendations on Facebook and Instagram and run there without an app download. A person who sees a clip in a feed could join a multiplayer game directly. That gives Horizon creators a route to audiences much larger than Horizon’s existing user base.
More games will compete for feed attention
AI tools can make a first version of a game faster. They do not establish that people will return to play it. Meta says engagement, stability, and repeat use will affect how much reach a game gets. A creator will need to measure retention after a feed click, not just how quickly the game was built.
The move also continues Horizon’s shift toward phones. Horizon began as a virtual reality platform, but these tools and the Facebook and Instagram path are built around mobile discovery. Meta has yet to show how widely it will recommend games or what results early creators can expect.
